Nissan To Announce Major News For Its NISMO Performance Arm
Tune in to at 00:55 tonight (UK time) for live coverage and reaction to what is being billed by Nissan as “a major announcement” as the company opens a new factory for its NISMO motorsport and performance tuning arm near Yokohama, Japan.
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn will headline the event, which is expected to build on NISMO’s road car involvement; but speculation is also growing that there are likely to be a number of motorsport-based announcements made too.

Nissan has invested in a new facility for NISMO’s operations, redeveloping a former production site to give it a new home with expanded technological capacity. The new site replaces NISMO’s prior location in Omori, Japan, and includes a larger showroom for up to eight vehicles plus a retail outlet.
Nissan has already begun introducing NISMO-badged performance versions of its road car products.
The first Nissan road car to get the NISMO treatment, the Juke NISMO, is already on sale in Europe and Japan and will be launched in the U.S. in the second quarter of this year. The next model to come will be a new version of the 370Z NISMO which will make its public debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Whilst there has been some speculation that Nissan might announce an increased involvement in Formula One, DSC believes that the current focus of the company on endurance racing is very unlikely to be curtailed.
