Silverstone Endurance Super Racing Weekend Launched Today

In the Shadow Of Tower Bridge

Central London, (snow elsewhere willing!) will welcome some WEC and ELMS sparkle this morning as the opening weekend of the two Championship seasons is launched with a central London photocall.

Amongst the participants are the newly updated Strakka Racing Honda HPD ARC 03c, pictured below in final liveried form for the very first time during a shakedown at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire.

Also on display in London today will be one of RAM Racing’s pair of ELMS bound Ferrari 458s.

The London photocall comes as the new team’s extensive pre-season testing programme winds down with a final test next week at the official ELMS test on 26/27th April at the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit.

That follows recent tests at both Jerez and Estoril where the team not only honed their new Ferraris but also finalised the driver line-up with Frankie Montecalvo announced as Jeanette’s ELMS season partner in the team’s #53 car

Despite the frustrations of mixed weather conditions in Portugal – wet, damp, drying and dry – Ram Racing completed a positive three days of testing with all drivers with over 1,000 kilometres of running completed.  Among the areas worked on was car set up, driver comfort, tyre evaluation and simulated qualifying and race runs for the benefit of both drivers and the pit crew.  The pace of all the drivers was very encouraging, particularly from Silver-rated Griffin and Montecalvo.

Gunnar Jeannette:

“The biggest frustrations from the weather were because it was my first time in Portugal and I wanted to go and hang out a little bit!  The test went extremely well; everyone got to drive on every type of tyre that Michelin makes so it was very good for our knowledge base.  Having our first race at Silverstone in April is likely not going to be a dry affair so that was useful!

“We ran through our test plan and everything went very smoothly.  Our pace was encouraging but we won’t know how we measure up against the opposition until we get to the official test at Paul Ricard next week.  We’ve done one race as a team so far, the Dubai 24H, but that’s not apples for apples for what we’re going to do.  Next week will give us a good indication.”
