Pizzonia to Join Delta-ADR at Silverstone
Brazilian partners with James Walker and Tor Graves

Ex F1 racer and current Grand Am pilot Antonio Pizzonia will join Delta-ADR at the Silverstone Six Hours, after agreeing a deal this week.  The Brazilian, who is also a former British Formula Three champion, is testing with the team at Paul Ricard.

“The deal has only just come together, like in the last week or so,” he told DSC.  “Usually when a deal like this happens, you jump straight into a race weekend without a chance to get in the car, so it’s pretty good to be testing here for two days before Silverstone.”

Though the deal is currently a single race deal, the clear objective is a full season with the team.  However, a packed schedule, with the Brazilian also involved with Michael Shank Racing in Grand Am, could complicate things.  That hectic schedule is highlighted by the next month, with the WEC test, before Barber (April 6) with Michael Shank in Grand Am, WEC at Silverstone, then Road Atlanta (April 20) with Grand Am again.

“At the moment, it’s just for Silverstone.  But I’d like to do the full season.  I’m doing Grand Am as well, and there are no clashes, but it would be very difficult, very hectic.  It would be a whole lot of travel.  We’ll see, but I’d like to do it.”

In further ADR news, the team are back to back testing the new Michelin tyre alongside the Dunlop they're more used to at the Paul Ricard test.  John Martin, who drove with the squad last year, will be joined by Pizzonia and Roman Rusinov in testing the Michelin today, with a view to a decision before the second day of testing on Saturday.
“The Dunlop is a proven tyre, we know all about it, but we’re going to try the Michelin,” said the Australian.  “We just want to see what Michelin have brought to the table.”

The team could be short of data, however, as mixed conditions will make it very hard to get a decent impression of either slick tyre.

There are two other names on the list to drive for the team during the test - Mike Conway, who is listed for #26, and Rodolfo Gonzalez against #25. It is likely, however, that neither will drive until tomorrow.
