Vanquishing Oulton
The DSC/Stratstone Comp Winner Claims Her Prize

A 20-minute supercar parade at Oulton Park last Monday saw a selection of rather pleasing road-going vehicles showing themselves off to a large Bank Holiday crowd, just prior to the second British GT race.

Amongst them were several Aston Martins, with a rather special one being driven by Stratstone Aston Martin Sales Manager (and Radio Le Mans tea boy extraordinaire) Paul Dunk.

“The Aston Martin in question is the new Vanquish, this particular example finished in ‘Skyfall Silver’ - what else?” said Dunk.

“The Vanquish is the flagship of the current production car range and represents everything Aston Martin know about building the ultimate GT car, so is completely at home amongst the race bred machinery gracing the paddock. The car is the first in Aston Martin's 100 year history to have a completely carbon fibre skin, powered by a 565bhp 6.0 litre V12 heart and a VH chassis 25% stiffer than the DBS it replaces.

“At a £189,995 price tag (well done Sarah for getting it correct) the power, performance and luxury does come a price, but as a truly hand-built British Sportscar, its place alongside its track stablemates is more than justified.”

Sarah is Sarah Rigby, aka the winner of the DSC/Stratstone competition that ran last weekend. “I turned on my mobile phone on Monday morning to discover that one of my dreams would be coming true later that day. Not only would I be going round one of my favourite circuits, Oulton Park, but I would be a passenger in one of my favourite cars – an Aston Martin Vanquish!”

To say that Sarah (whose Twitter moniker is @Petrolheadsarah) is an Aston enthusiast would be something of an understatement. Not only did she win this prize, she was also the winner of the blind auction for a Beechdean team jacket and hat in the recent Sebring UK event at the Stratstone showrooms in Derby.

“I had an amazing time been driven round the circuit by Paul. To be a passenger in such a stunning car and to get a completely different aspect of the circuit was an experience I will never forget, and I wished that it lasted longer. The sound of that engine was music to my ears.

“Many thanks to everyone involved with making this possible – but especially Graham Goodwin and Paul Dunk. They all made this huge Aston Martin fan very happy, especially in the marque’s centenary year.”

Glad you enjoyed it Sarah.
