GT Open Introduces Gentleman Trophy
For Drivers Over 45

The 2013 International GT Open season gets underway at Paul Ricard in three weeks' time and will feature, for the first time, a Gentleman Trophy, which is aimed at rewarding the best amateur driver over 45 years of age.

“Gentlemen drivers have always been a key element in GT racing”, said Jesús Pareja, CEO of GT Sport, “We wanted to recognize this fact in the GT Open and create a trophy to reward their passion and commitment.”

To qualify for the trophy, drivers should be over 45 on April 15th 2013 and have not won a FIA-sanctioned title in their career. The organisers may, on a discretionary basis, also include other drivers and will review the list of eligible drivers after Round 4. A Gentleman Trophy will be awarded at each race to the best gentleman driver classified, regardless of the class in which he competes. The first five will score points for the Trophy according to the scale 10-8-6-5-4 points. At the end of the season, drivers of the SuperGT category will drop 10% of their points. The overall winner(s) will receive the GT Open Gentleman Trophy at the end of season awards ceremony.
