FIA GT Silverstone – Sunday Morning Notes

There’s rain in the area surrounding Silverstone but the circuit itself has large blue coloured areas between the grey fluffy looking bits coupled with a chilly and stiff morning breeze.

A couple of potential visitors to the FIA GT ‘naughty step’ might be announced later this morning.  Certainly the #44 Matech Ford GT looks set to start from the back of the grid after a pre-qualifying engine change.  The race organisers were apparently surprised to see the car in the qualifying session, having been informed earlier in the day that the car would not take part.

It also seems likely that the Hexis Aston Martin Vantage will also start from the back of the grid, observers noting that the scrutineers were having some difficulty in inserting the wooden blocks under the front splitter which are used to assess the regulatory ride height

And sure enough – at 08:15 the #80 Vantage is confirmed as starting from the back of the grid after failing the ride height test and having “incorrect size components on the car.”
