Rolex 24 - Hours 10-12 Hour 10 Juan Pablo Montoya made it a Ganassi 1-2 just after the end of the 9th hour as he passed JC France. Timo Bernhard is now closing in fast on the Brumos man whilst in GT Matthew Marsh is doing a fine job eating into Collard's advantage. Bernhard made his move on Lap 290, made the pass stick and set off in pursuit of Montoya. At that point Marsh was within 17 seconds of Collard, the GT leader in 14th place overall. Montoya pits, Bernhard inherits second place with France up to third. Oliver Gavin meanwhile is making progress in the surviving #75 Lola, up in 8th place now and lapping very quickly at present, his last position though was courtesy of problems for the #55 Riley BMW. The 10th FCY of the race comes as we approach the 10 hour mark that should allow max Angelelli to sit right on the rear of Montoya, the Italian had been closing in. Bernhard pits, Dumas climbs aboard and Montoya must have taken a splash too as Angelelli is running second overall. The yellow flag period appears to be for a problem involving Matos in the #55 Riley. This should put a total of 5 cars on the lead lap with terry Borcheller lying fifth in the #59 Brumos Riley Porsche, and the recovering #58 car just a lap further down. The pit stops also shuffle the GT pack. Matthew Marsh emerges around 12 seconds ahead of Collard, #86 now leading #66. The hour ends with the field still lapping under caution. Back to green flag racing once again and the top five are separated by just over 10 seconds Chapman Ducote's Riley BMW is in trouble too, the GT leaders overhaul both Riley Beemers to lie 12th and 13th overall with Collard closing in fast on Marsh. Up at the front though Angelelli is harrying Franchitti whilst Dumas and Borcheller squabble over fourth, the Frenchman makes a move stick and claims the place. Angelelli and Collard both claim their respective prizes on the next lap, the Dallara leads overall, TRG back up front in GT. Sun Trust then leads the Ganassi duo - the defending Champs won't like that one little bit! As the leaders duke it out, someway back - 181 laps, to be precise - the #31 MCM Racing Porsche was contradicting earlier reports of its demise; completing its 140th racing lap at the ten and a half hour mark, Romeo Kapudija at the wheel. Lap times were improving in the cooler air, with both Oliver Gavin (#75 Krohn Lola) and Memo Gidley (#77 Doran Dallara) setting fastest time for their cars in the 11th hour. Max Angelelli was lapping just a tenth or two quicker than Dario Franchitti and had the lead up to six seconds before he pitted on lap 325 to hand over to Pedro Lamy. The Sun Trust car returned to the track in fifth, still on the lead lap. The Scot's lead lasted just two laps, as he yielded to Juan-Pablo Montoya; who became the ninth race leader. Dumas also went past the #02 Riley and just three seconds covered the top three as the race approached the 11 hour point. Matthew Marsh was by now starting to lose sight of Collard's Porsche as the works driver extended his lead to almost half a minute in GT. The #13 Beyer Racing Pontiac Riley of Jordan Taylor hit trouble when the roof rather alarmingly blew off after completing 314 laps. The car pitted for the no-doubt lengthy delays. On lap 334, Terry Borcheller pits the #59 Brumos Porsche Riley, promoting Lamy, and one lap later Montoya makes his scheduled stop, leaving Dumas in the lead as the race moved into the 12th hour. Lap 340 saw the 11th caution periood of the race begin, reason unknown. At the same moment, Lamy took third from LLoyd. The caution period was quickly resolved and the race was back under green conditions at the end of lap 344. At the restart, Dumas is keen on Montoyas lead, and has the momentum to take the place on the second green lap. Meanwhile, further back, Borcheller gets the drop on Lloyd to move up to fourth. In GT, Collard's stop to hand over to Richard Lietz has promoted the #86 Farnbacher Loles Porsche of Kevin Roush to the class lead. His lead over Andy Lally is more than 30 seconds. Dumas pulls his lead out to just over three seconds before Montoya is able to stabilise it. The #13 Beyer Riley is moving again, 34 laps behind the leader. A slow 354th lap from Dumas brings the gap down to two seconds, but he is back up to speed next time round, which suggests that it was traffic related. The #99 GAINSCO Bob Stallings Riley looks to have hit trouble again, with both Roush and Lally taking track position from Alex Gurney, who falls to 11th. The 12th caution period begins on lap 356 - to allow the recovery of the #99? Further back, Christophe Bouchut takes 11th in class from Scott Russell; the #55 Level 5 BMW Riley now lying 19th overall. The two leaders pitted under caution and to hand over their cars. Memo Gidley resumed as expected, but it's a lengthy stop for the Penske car (just under six minutes) and Ryan Briscoe drops to sixth before returning to the track. The race remained under caution as it reached the half-way point, with just over a third of the 12 hours having been run under yellows.
