Le Mans Series – Silverstone – Hours 6
Dramas At The End

We pass the five hour mark (heading towards about 5 hours 45?), with a great race between Mucke and Collard, for second overall. It’s nose to tail stuff – the pair of them bearing down on slower cars almost everywhere, Mucke defending, Collard watching and waiting….. Lamy is only 28 seconds behind these two.

Ojjeh loses a few seconds with a moment at Stowe, and leads Hughes by 32 seconds. Ortelli leads Garcia by 19 for the GT1 win.

Garcia and Mucke very nearly touch at Copse, as the P1s lap the second placed GT1 car.

Mucke is on used rubber, Collard on fresh rubber (which is why the gap closed up at the stops).

Lap 176 (of 195) and Lamy is only 18 seconds behind the duelling Judd powered cars.

Pompidou is touring in with no left/rear wheel.. or upright. #77’s battle for the GT2 title looks to be over, as long as the Virgo 430 keeps going. A driveshaft failed.

The Ojjeh – Hughes gap is still 32 seconds, while TK-S is 72 seconds behind #45.

Hughes is off the track, on the edge of the gravel – in the complex?

Mucke and Collard are nose to tail - and the Frenchman almost gets the place at Abbey, as they lap the Virgo Ferrari again. But Collard dives through at Brooklands, with slight contact. But here comes Lamy.

Collard eases away – and Lamy waltzes past Mucke past the pits. And heads off after Collard.

Hughes gets the Embassy car back to the pits, but second becomes fourth – so the LNT Zytek is second, and it’s a Zytek 1-2 in P2. A battery change takes place on the Embassy SR9, which will not be quick..

And it’s a Peugeot 1-2 in P1, Lamy passing Collard into Stowe. Mucke pulls well off the track on the approach to Maggotts, then starts again but can’t head back to the circuit, it appears that the steering is broken, the car had been darting from side to side for a number of laps. Barbosa inherits fourth and Kurosawa will take fifth for Creation.

The #8 908 is about to be black flagged – perhaps. It has loose rear bodywork / no left/rear box thing. The mechanics at Peugeot are getting ready for a repair.

Lap 189 for the leader (out of 196) and Lamy pits: the repair begins. Martin Short reported the damage to the officials.

Daniel Perdrix of the ACO is looking at the repair work. The #8 is taken into its garage.

Barbosa is about to take third place for Rollcentre.

We haven’t mentioned GT2 lately – but Rob Bell is about to become the LMS GT2 Champion. Assuming Bruni brings 96 home to the win, after a perfect race, Bell will have 42 points.

The LNT Zytek and Binnie Lola have come together, right at the end – TK-S and Binnie himself. That might cost LNT second place. To ASM…..

Minassian takes the flag, Collard is second, Rollcentre get a podium, Lamy is fourth on dstance, the Creation is fifth (change that, Kurosawa takes the place by completing his last lap – the #8 can’t be classified, can it? - Yes, it can and it is - 75% is enough, you don't have to cross the line), the Barazi-Epsilon Zytek takes P2, then the Arena Zytek is next – and then the LNT Zytek does take second in class, from ASM.

Ortelli takes a fourth win for Oreca in GT1, ahead of a great run for Modena – and in GT2, Rob Bell is the Champion, with the IMSA 997 second.. and Spykers third and fourth.
