British GT - Donington Park - Quick Race 1 Report
Nineteen cars took part in the first of the two races at Donington Park, and for the first time this season there was no safety car. The racing was close throughout the hour and was characterised by some excellent duels, most notably Ian Flux versus Godfrey Jones.
Alex Mortimer led assertively in the #6 RPM Viper at the head of a small breakaway group, closely pursued by Ben de Zille Butler in the #3 Barwell Aston. Places were reversed at the stop and Guy Harrington held on to the first Aston Martin victory in BGT. The RPM Viper, now driven by Bradley Ellis, just held off a charging Jonny Cocker to prevent a Barwell 1-2.
Just two cars finished the GTC race, but that, too, was a close run thing, with Aaron Scott chasing down the Steve Hyde driven Morgan to give Beechdean its first victory.
