Gravity Moslers Fill The Front Row
© Joost Custers Stéphane Lémeret and Vincent Radermecker, in their Gravity International Racing Mosler were fastest in both qualifying sessions at Donington Park, while team-mates Christian Kelders and Yves Lambert were surprisingly quick in the second Mosler, so we’ll have a complete Mosler front row for the first time in Belcar history on Sunday morning.
“We’ve been testing a lot at Rockingham last week,” commented pole-man Vincent Radermecker, “and the engine worries seem to belong to the past. If we continue this way tomorrow, we’ll have chance of winning the race. But as racing is different from qualifying, I don’t like to make any predictions too soon.” Behind the ‘British’ machines, driving at home, we find the AD Porsche 997 of Belgian Champ Car hope Jan Heylen and AD Team boss Albert Vanierschot. Former Eurocup Mégane winner Jan Heylen again proved to be quick in all conditions and any type of car. The PK Carsport Corvette of Kumpen and Longin, winner at Zolder three weeks ago, suffered serious gearbox troubles throughout the test session on Thursday and the free practice sessions. “Changing up was no problem, but going down was impossible. And during the first qualifying session we were not allowed to run, as we were too noisy,” explained Belgian FIA GT ace Bert Longin. Eventually, the championship leaders drove to fourth on the grid. Still in the top 5, we find the GPR Porsche of Dumarey / Quaife. The racing ladies Boden and Van de Velde set a strong performance: the Viper girls drove to seventh, right behind the RFB Aston Martin, and were fastest Viper crew. Division 2 was more predictable as NGT took pole for the second time in succession. Bart Couwberghs and Marc Neyens drove to the limit of the Porsche 996 and will start 15th overall. Pole in division 3 went to CEO Racing duo Joost Vollebergh and Danny De Laet in a Porsche 996 GT3 RS. The pair came very close to the reference time of 1.14.00. This reference time will go down to 1.11.00 for tomorrow’s race. The race starts at 10.13 GMT and 11.13 CET. Qualifying Times
