Phoenix Carsport Two C6.Rs This Year But No Lola Audi Mike Hezemans and Jean-Denis Deletraz will recreate the winning line-up at last year’s Spa 24 Hours – with two Corvette C6.Rs in the 2008 FIA GT Championship. Hezemans and Deletraz, joined by Marcel Fassler and Fabrizio Gollin, won a thrilling Spa 24 Hours last year, and for the new season, J-DD and Marcel Fassler will race one C6.R (last year’s chassis 001), Hezemans and Gollin the other (005, one of the 2007 ALMS cars).
“The Phoenix Aston Martin DBR9 is for sale,” says Jean-Denis Deletraz, and team manager Dirk Theimann is the man to contact. “It is better to run two Corvettes than one Corvette and one Aston: set up, tyre testing, experience etc.,” explains Deletraz. “For 2008 and 2009 we will receive the full support of GM Europe and one official sponsor of GM, the leasing company GMAC,” continues the Swiss. “I still have the support of ACM.CH, which is the other main sponsor of the programme.” The bad news is that the Swiss Spirit Lola Audi programme is at an end. “Audi has stopped supplying the engines.” |
