FIA GT Teams Titles Settled

Second and fifth today at Paul Ricard gave Vitaphone Racing a 12 point haul, enough to secure the 2009 FIA GT Championship team title for the team, its fifth successive GT1 Teams Title and a clean sweep for the MC12 since the German squad brought the Italian supercar to the Championship. 

The GT2 team title was settled too, AF Corse scoring a 4^th consecutive Teams title courtesy of a double podium at Paul Ricard, #50 and #51 scoring 1st and 3rd positions in class respectively.

Chris Niarchos meanwhile did enough at HTTT to secure the 2009 Citation Cup in the first season where the trophy has been contested in GT2 machinery.

“I had a great race today,” said Niarchos. “I got swamped by a few pros at one point but I stayed right with them so that was a lot of fun.  It’s a good feeling to win the Citation Cup; a bit of silverware never goes astray.  It means a lot to me as any championship is hard to win. It’s satisfying to beat other drivers; of course it is, that’s why we do it!"
