Ricard Chaos In Pictures
With thanks to Harald Gallinnis at GT-Eins and photographer Rudolf Periny (who holds copyright on all the images below) we can present this series of images of the disastrous start at Paul Ricard.
They show very clearly indeed the sequence of events which happened following the botched procedure with the Porsche pack all involved in the subsequent chaos.
The pictures also explain the early problem for the #71 AF Corse Ferrari 458, we hadn’t established that the car’s broken rear toe link had been caused by contact but this sequence makes clear that the car was indeed hit from behind by an IMSA Perfromance Porsche. The pictures also show that the JMB FLM Oreca was caught up in the trouble too.
With news now confirming that the ACO and Le Mans Series have agreed that GTE teams will be allowed to drop a race score to attempt to level the playing field for the season (all participating full season entries having sportingly agreed to the measure) we’ll still need to see a very strong Porsche performance indeed at Spa next month to get an emerging challenge to the Ferraris.
