An Influx Of Stars

The next round of the British GT Championship is building up into potentially a humdinger of a race, as a number of star drivers make guest appearances in the two-hour encounter.

The GT3 class will see a trio of Aston Martin DBRS9s taking part; the Barwell-Cadena car of Paul Whight and Michael Bentwood returning after strong showings at Oulton Park and Spa, along with two other cars making their season debut.

Andrew Howard takes the driver’s seat for the first time in 2010, with his fully-updated Beechdean-Barwell Aston, and he will be bringing along none other than Darren Turner for the occasion; the works driver making, we believe, his debut in the series.  

Up against them will be a former AMR team-mate of DT’s, as Stuart Hall joins Tom Black in the brand-new Vantage Racing DBRS9, run by Hugh Chamberlain; “We are very happy finally to have the car ready to race,” said the veteran team manager. “The Silverstone race will be a good test for the car, which is completely new to us. Depending on how things go, we may look at doing more British GT races later on.”

And there will also be a current team-mate of Turner’s in the race, as two-time LMS GT2 champion Rob Bell joins his brother Matt in the United Autosports Ginetta G50 in the G4 class.

G4 also welcomes back the Stark Racing Ginetta of Ian Stinton and Paul Marsh as they seek to emulate their Knockhill win of 2009; “Hopefully we can repeat the trick at Silverstone,” said Stinton.

“The long race should suit us and Paul is a quick young driver.” Benji Hetherington also returns, with brother Freddie, in a second Century Motorsports G50.
