Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship, Snetterton – Quick Report Mosler Monsters the 300, Sensational Storey Peter Storey’s stirring first-stint in the Class 2 Motionsport Ferrari 458 left it in a good position for Simon Phillips middle stint, and a series of safety cars, mixed strategies and misfortunes left the Ferrari with a substantial lead after Storey rejoined for the closing hour, but Javier Morcillo’s impressive charge in the Azteca/Strata 21 Mosler, after early-race drives by Paul White and Manuel Cintrano indicated the lead would probably change hands in the last few minutes. The Ferrari developed a glitch, though, necessitating a last-ditch fuel stop, and Story could only cruise to the flag to claim fourth overall and Class 2 honours, leaving the Mosler to win with the best part of a lap over the Michael Millard/Ian Heward Rapier SR2. Third overall were Nick Jarvis and Tommy Field, with an inspiring performance in the Track Torque Chevron GR8; they headed the Class 3 contingent, whilst Kevin Clarke and Wayne Gibson , reluctantly running the Intersport BMW E92 after a rolling-road failure in the team’s E46, led the Class 4 field home. There’s a lot to talk about here – several upsets, multiple lead-changes, inspirational performances. Full report to follow. Steve Wood |
