LMS – Nürburgring – Driver quotes Stefan Mücke “It is definitely a great result to win my home race here in Germany. The team did a good job and we really had no problems in the whole race. Even at the end the car was perfect. We had a slightly different race strategy but in the end we had no problems. For Silverstone, it is still another 6 hours and we have to give 100% every time, not just go for points for the championship. Another podium would be nice.” Tomas Enge “This was Stefan’s home race, he did the practice, the qualifying, the start and the finish so this was his race!” Jan Charouz “I had one minor event with a GT2 and P1 car. The GT2 car just came back on the track without looking and moved straight onto the racing line. Some of these semi-pro drivers may not know the speed difference between us and them. I braked hard and the car span off but fortunately nothing was wrong with the car. After that we were trying to double stint the tyres but we found that the performance radically dropped. I just wanted to make sure I was looking after the tyres, there was nothing wrong with the car. Stefan had exactly the same, so we did each stint on new tyres and the car was much better. I think we won the race on merit and earned it, the #009 car didn’t slow for us and we didn’t do anything to disadvantage them. We tried a different strategy by coming in earlier than a full stint to give us something different and it worked really well.” Darren Turner “This is a fantastic achievement today for us in the #009 car and for the whole team, for all the hard work we’ve done all year this is a great reward. We’ll have a good night and celebrate.” Harold Primat “When I was in the car I was 1st, then I saw the win went to #007, so I wasn’t sure where I was overtaken, probably in the pits. I will have to go back and check how that happened.” Miguel Ramos “The first stint was quite difficult, I didn’t have a good qualifying so I am really happy for my mates to take us from 10th to 3rd, it was a conservative run but a great result.” Chris Buncombe “The [almost] triple stint was a bonus, I was expecting it to be a learning process and it was. It is a dream to end up in the top 3. The team did a fantastic job and the car was a dream to drive. My team mates did a fantastic job.” Stuart Hall “It is great to be back and I have to thank Aston Martin for having faith in me and it was great for me to be able to repay them, especially with 3 cars on the podium. It has been very much a learning weekend but we certainly still had the pace to get a good result.” Miguel Amaral “Olivier Pla was very strong, that is the reason why we are here [first place]. We both had good pace throughout. This track is very difficult, there was a lot of traffic but we managed to overcome that and I am very happy.” Olivier Pla “I was giving my best and pushing very hard. We have a very good package with the Ginetta chassis, the Zytek engine and the Quifel ASM team. Everyone did a very good job. I want to dedicate this race to a very special person for me.” Roland Berville “It was sad for us to compete with just the Corvette but it was a good competitor and we did our best. We had some problems with the car and were unable to do longer stints, but my teammates did a great job and it’s good to win.” Marc Lieb “The championship is open again. It has been a roller coaster season for us, two wins and then out early at Portimao. We had a good performance, we were consistent and were fighting for the whole race and in the end we won by a lap. We have a good lead now in the championship.” Richard Lietz “We are here to do our best and I am sure we have done that today. The team have done a great job, they have built two new chassis since Portimao and they have built them up really well so this result is for them.” PS |
