AF Corse enters Ferrari F458 GT3 for Griffin and Gerber
Having already confirmed race programs in the Le Mans Series, FIA GT3 European Championship, International GT Open and GT Sprint AF Corse will also run the new Ferrari F458 GT3 in the brand new Blancpain Endurance Series. The Italian squad will enter one Ferrari F458 GT3 at the opening round of the season at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza this weekend.
Like in AF Corse has selected Jack Gerber and Matt Griffin to race the Ferrari in the Blancpain Endurance Series. The South African and Irish drivers already raced together for Amato Ferrari's team in 2010 in GT Open and are now set to race in the new championship. They are also due to race in selected rounds of the International GT Open championship this season.
Matt Griffin is very happy to race in the Blancpain Endurance Series, where he will face opposition from drivers in cars from Audi, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ford, Ferrari and Porsche. "The Blancpain Endurance Series is very exciting. It’s a new championship and SRO has got the format right with the 3-hour races," said Griffin. "The entry list is already over-subscribed and looks like it will be super-competitive with lots of very professional teams, some who’ve stepped down from GT1. I’m very happy to be doing this with AF Corse, a top notch team whose record speaks for itself, and I hope to get the best results possible.”
