FIA WEC, 6 Hours of Silverstone - Notes From the Paddock One driver change to note is the replacement of Luca Moro in the #31 Lotus LMP2 by Christian Albers – No word on why just yet but it could be a recurrence of the Italian’s knee injury from earlier in the season. There are a couple of livery changes to confirm, the Starworks HPD now features a large Venezuelan flag on the dorsal fin and the #61 AF Waltrip Ferrari has, for this race at least reverted to ‘normal’ AF Corse livery, the car used for Silverstone is the #60 car from ELMS at Paul Ricard. At JWA Avila we believe there will be no Markus Palttala on Saturday, the Finn busy at the Nordschliefe with a Porsche drive in VLN tomorrow. Good news for the Felbermayer Proton team as the team has been handed a raft of performance breaks for this race, looking rather similar to those doled out by IMSA in the ALMS from Laguna Seca onwards. That means a 75mm larger front splitter, a rear wing that can be 100mm further back, a .7mm larger restrictor and a 10 kilo weight break too! Both Oak LMP2s have Nissan engines of course this weekend for the first time. All three AMR Vantages are looking splendid in their pit garages - Adrian Fernandez meanwhile confirming that he will miss the Interlagos race, the #97 car will race with two drivers, but the Mexican will return for the remainder of the WEC. Nic Minassian was wearing his Jota Union Jack with pride - He's looking forward to getting to grips with the Zytek Nissan for the first time. The Toyota, as predicted in our race preview, has a very different looking aero set-up with a double deck rear wing of a design not seen before in the WEC - When asked by DSC whether he's had a chance to see it Audi's Allan McNish replied deadpan "Nope, I have no intention of looking at the back of a Toyota at all this weekend!" |
