FIA GT3, Brno - Race Two Report
Six Out Of Eight For Matech

Ian Khan and Thomas Mutsch were the big winners of the fourth FIA GT3 weekend of the year. After a well-deserved win on Sunday, they take the lead in the championship standings as well.

The second race of the FIA GT3 Championship started with another crash after only a few metres. Main victims were the championship leading #1 Corvette, both Jaguars, and the #44 Gravity Ascari.

After a ten minute SC-intervention the race got a restart and at the front the #2 MCR and #38 MM Racing Corvette, the #20 Matech Ford GT and the #10 Hexis Aston  had a good fight.

After a few laps, Thomas Mutsch in the Matech Ford started to make his way through the field and by the end of the first half of the race; the German Ford driver was leading two Corvettes and an Aston. Ian Khan even had a four –second gap when after taking over the Ford.

The second half of the race was less entertaining and Khan secured a fine win for the Swiss Ford team. Khan and Mutsch also take the lead in the championship as previous leaders Peyrolles – Ruffier were among the early victims of the race. Both other Ford GTs also finished in the top ten, with Mortimer – Ellis in seventh and Pirri – Von Gartzen in ninth.

Local youngsters Matzke and Skula seemed set to secure a fine second in their Corvette, but their engine failed four minutes before the end of the race. Matzke and Skula not only lost a certain podium, but also precious points in the standings.

So second spot went to Accary – Mena in the Hexis Aston and third was for Meir – Bert Corvette. In fourth we had the Aston of Lagniez and Mackowiecki, in fifth the Morgan of Lesoudier and Scheir and in sixth came MM Corvette of Vojtech and Lacko.
