ALMS - 12 Hours Of Sebring - Monday Practice Notes Jon Field had a nasty moment in the Intersport Lola. Jon got out on his own and was seen standing beside the car before being transported to a local hospital for observation. The car appears to have been destroyed. An ALMS statement following the crash says: "Intersport Racing’s Jon Field was released from a Sebring, Fla., hospital Monday night, hours after a horrific crash during testing for this weekend’s opening round of the 2010 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón. "Field, testing for the 58th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida, was taken to Highlands Regional Medical Center following an accident in which his AER-powered Lola B06/10 LMP1 race car got airborne and flipped several times between Turns 9 and 10 of the 3.7-mile, 17-turn Sebring International Raceway circuit. "The car eventually came to a stop upright on its wheels. After being taken to the track's medical center, he was transported to Highlands Regional for further observation. "Prior to the crash, the Intersport Lola-AER had posted the fastest time of the afternoon session." In addition Andrea Robertson backed her Ford GT into a wall. The car was extensively damaged and the team considered packing up but word is that they will be ready later in the week. Tommy Sutherland too had an off in the Genoa LMPC car. The nose was damaged but not bad enough to be withdrawn. Top cap it all, over the weekend, one of the Peugeots supposedly had an off, but it was not noticeable today as both were on track. Tom Weickert meanwhile was on hand, awaiting a seat fitting in the Primetime LMPC entry. He is expected to be the 3rd driver for Sebring. Neither Audi nor Creation were anywhere to be seen, unless either were running in stealth mode. Weather – warm and windy. Maybe winter is finally over in Florida… GH & MS |
