Three Felbermayr-Proton Porsches For The Le Mans Series Guido Quirmbach and Markus Berns at www.project-lemans.de bring the news that the Felbermayr-Proton team is planning to enter three Porsches in the Le Mans Series this year - and one of them, a brand new 997 GT3-RSR, will be driven by none other than Marc Lieb and Xavier Pompidou. The other two Porsches, another new GT2 997 and a 996, will be driven by their regular 2006 FIA GT drivers, the senior and junior Felbermayrs / Rieds. Below are the two Felbermayr-Proton entries in Dubai last November, for the FIA GT event. Lieb and Pompidou are former Le Mans Series Champions, in 2005 in the Sebah Porsche, when they were unbeaten in the three rounds they contested. The Felbermayr-Proton cars have been regulars in the FIA GT Championship until now, but the team has made the switch for 2007 to the longer LMS events. Proton's involvement in the FIA GT Championship goes back to 1997. One of the team's 996 Porsches raced at Le Mans last year, as the Sebah entry, driven by Pompidou, Christian Ried and Thorkild Thyrring. |
