ALMS - Mobil 1 Sebring 12 Hours – Warm Up & Pre-Race Glorious © Gary Horrocks Race day has dawned and it is glorious. After all of the rain and just plain lousy weather over the last two days, it was nice to wake up (sort of) for the early morning warm-up and see blue skies again. The forecast is good for the day – highs in the high 60s to low 70s with a very slight chance of rain. The temperatures were rather cool, during warm-up, with Chris Dyson and Andy Wallace from Dyson Racing reporting that the tires didn’t have much grip in the cool temperatures. Michelin reported a track temperature of 66 degrees at the start of the session. It is quite likely that this is the first time that all 34 cars scheduled to start the race were on track in the same session. Up and down pit lane, it was thumbs up, concerning how things were going. Jon Field reported that the car was together, and according to his son, Clint, the car appeared to be ready to race. Jon’s back is better, but still sore. In a few hours, he’ll be having that special Sebring chiropractic session… It was reported that the #2 Audi did have a minor problem with the paddle shifting. That’s why they have warm-ups. Corvette added some variety to the grid, by installing new Arctic White body panels on the #3 C6.R, matching the Ron Fellows Special Edition version. Because of the spin in the qualifying session and the resulting flat spotted tires, the Risi team has opted to change tires and start the #62 Ferrari from the back of the grid. Yesterday, Exxon Mobil announced that Mobil 1 will be continuing on as the title sponsor of this race through 2010. This year marks the 12th consecutive year that the Mobil 1 name has been associated with the race. The 55th edition starts at 10.00 local time. Useful Links Live Timing Radio Web |
