Le Mans 24 Hours - Scrutineering Tuesday 1

Spyker Sorts

First pair through the ACO technical inspection this morning were the pair of Spyker C8 Laviolettes, fine upholders of the GT2 tradition of doing something different to a Porsche or Ferrari, the Audi engined Dutch Coupes though had an awful Test Day last weekend after engine-related woes for the #85 car led to a premature end to proceedings for the sister #94 car, the team not having the required replacement parts to effect the fix in the required time.

Both cars though were on parade looking good as new.

“The test day was a real problem. I got my ten laps in which was the main thing but after that we had to stop and of course that has hurt the work we wanted to do.

“The guys have been here all week working on both cars.  The spares situation though is now much better and despite the problems we have got good reliability to fall back on, a pair of 4th places in the LMS so far this year – so we are confident for the race.”

Ralf Kelleners:
“Even though it was a big rush on the Test Day it really wasn’t that big an issue, it was just that we didn’t have a spare at the track for the specific part, it was a camshaft issue.

“In truth whilst we didn’t get much of our planned workload done the weather conditions would have prevented much of that in any case.  I believe we couldn’t have done more than around 30% of what we wanted to do.
