MTECH Confirms A Brace Of 458s
For British GT & FIA GT3

Mike Edmonds has confirmed that his MTECH team will be running a brace of Ferrari 458s in 2011, with twin programmes planned for British GT and FIA GT3 (subject to acceptance of entry). Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin are expected to once again be partnering up in one of the 458s - for both series - while negotiations with potential drivers for the second car are currently underway.

"I think it's absolutely fitting that MTECH should be the first team to get the 458s," said Griffin, when DSC spoke to him at the end of October. "They were one of the first teams to get the Scuderia, and it's probably fair to say that they did a lot of the development work on the car as a result of Loris Kessel's illness.
 
"Mike and Duncan are both very ambitious, but are taking the team forward at a sensible pace. Mike has been running Ferraris for a number of years and has built up a very good working relationship with the factory, while Duncan is enjoying his driving and, just as importantly, has already proven himself to be a very good racer.
 
"I'm currently talking to the team about 2011, but we both want very much to continue working together. I'm convinced that we'll see MTECH at Le Mans at some point in the not too distant future and I'd love to be a part of that."   

MTECH is also the first team to enter the new-for-2011 GT3 'Class B' category of the BGT, with a 2008-spec Ferrari 430 for Aaron Scott and John Dhillon already confirmed and with a second 430 also likely.

"I tested for MTECH last month," said Scott, "and was very impressed with the team and the car. They've done a lot in a short space of time and I'm pleased to be joining them.

"The car will be Duncan's old Britcar 430 and it's proven itself to be a very reliable piece of kit in that series.

"I know John a little from last year, and I'm sure we'll gel as a team very quickly. He's relatively inexperienced, but he showed at the test that he's relatively quick and I hope I can bring him on over the course of the season."

Dhillon has been with MTECH since its formation, but had only occasional outings in 2010; “The new Class B championship is a great idea,” said Edmonds. “It’s fantastic to welcome Aaron to the team and it’s great news for John be doing British GT. With our knowledge of the 430 GT3, John and Aaron will be looking only at winning that championship.” 

A couple of months ago, Scott was looking at a potentially bleak 2011, following the withdrawal of the GT3 Racing Viper from the BGT; but now - with this and the just-announced Britcar drive in a GT3 Racing Ginetta G55 - things are looking a lot busier.   

"Hopefully, this news will encourage others to enter Class B. There are loads of cars out there and it's the perfect way for the less-experienced drivers to step up to British GT."
