Sebring Race Hours 4 & 5 Corvettes Take Each Other Out In Pit Lane
It’s been a bit difficult finding battles going on out on track. Mark Wilkins has a big lead n PC – about 2 laps.
Oops. Collard enters the pits and his teammate Magnussen pulls out. Crash. Heavy hit in the pit lane. Cut tire on the 3 and body damage to the 4. Thankfully no one was hurt. This could have been a bad one. The 4 leaves the pits and goes behind the wall. The 3 returns with the cut tire and body work damage.
No 62 Risi and 45 Lizard in. Bruni and Bergmeister in. The 3 returns to the pits – this is not a Corvette like hour.
Not to jinx anything, but so far only 1 caution. Not to jinx anything, but the PC cars seem pretty reliable. Not to jinx anything, but the GTC drivers seem to be behaving themselves…
Butch Leitzinger has gotten into the No 81 AJR Porsche and has the class lead. The Peugeot margin is 28 seconds; the 08 still leading the 07.
The 4 Corvette has returned to track. It is Gavin in the car now. They lost 8 laps in the pit lane coming together. It’s back again…
The Primetime car still hasn’t returned. Unlike the Jaguar, the awning is still in place on pit lane, indicating that they intend to return.
Drayson in. It’s a long stop and drops the car back. This is a routine stop in a way. The team is checking a belt that had failed in testing. Just routine preventative maintenance in a way. Drayson stayed in – the car is now 5 laps from the front.
3:45 into the race, Primetime returns to pit lane, having completed repairs from the earlier crash at the 1 hour mark. David Brabham finally gets into the car after a solid double stint by Marino. Drayson back into the pits, meanwhile the Peugeots continue to circulate up front on their own little race. The problem with the Drayson car is the alternator.
So, does anyone know any good jokes? (cue in the sound of crickets…)
OK, just got the hour 3 Michelin Green X Challenge results. Peugeot 1-2 there also. In GT, it is the Lizards 44 car heading the results, running E85. Well, that filled a few minutes…
At 4 hours it’s 08, 07, 007 in P1. 1 and 6 in P2 and 55, 36 and 99 in LMP2. GT2 is 62, 92, 45, while GTC is 81, 23 and 32.
Pitting from 2nd in GT2 is the no 92 BMW. Fuel and tires and Werner is back out.
A bit of a break here from your humble writer, and upon return, well, not much has changed. The same characters are in about the same place they’ve been.
Pierre Kaffer is in the Risi Ferrari, but the lead over second (Dirk Werner – 92 BMW) is now down to about 8 seconds.
