Heartbreak For Lizards and Highcroft

Wolf Henzler had a RR wheel and tire part ways with the car. He got the car back to the pits and back into the race. Yellow. 45 comes in with a puncture, but the pits are closed. The rim is damaged – contact with someone/something?

The Falken Porsche returns to the pits, again minus the RR rim. Both cars sit idle in the pits and can’t be worked on until the pits are open. Looks like the rim that parted ways with the Falken hit the Lizard. Wow.

On the yellow, or maybe the run back to the line, the Risi and the Ris-Krohn cars come together. Bruni comes alongside Krohn, who moves over and pushes the 62 into the grass.

Pits open finally – everybody pits. Not sure what the cause of the delay in getting the pace car out. I guess the reason for the yellow was debris on the track from the Falken and Lizard come together.

Green with 4:20 to go. On the come around, it is 08 (Lamy) ahead of the 07 (Davidson) by 2.7 seconds. GT2 is a lap for Risi over the BMWs. Highcroft has 5 laps over Cytosport. PC – Level 5 No. 55 has at least a 14 lap lead over the 99. GTC - 81 over 23 by 2 laps. Ho hum.

Falken behind the wall with all 4 wheels still on it. This doesn’t look good.

Hour 9 - Still not much to report. The overall lead is around a second, give or take depending on traffic.

The sun is getting lower – it’s getting to be that magical time track side, but from the media center, it’s just a parade of cars going around. After awhile, it’ll become an endless blur of lights and noise going past.

99, the second placed PC car stopped – Jeannette out, Julian in.

Tracy Krohn pits from 8th in class and the Aston Martin enters pit lane also. Just a few minutes before, Andy Meyrick got into the Dyson.

Highcroft to the pits. Pagenaud gets out of the car but the team is working on the car in the cockpit. This is a long stop. Drayson in too. Pirro into the car once again. Second placed Pug pits, which was the 08. Somewhere a lead change went un-noticed or I was wrong previously. Driver change – Minassian in. Leader now in and back out – leads by 24 seconds

GT2 leader in. Kaffer back into the car.

The Cytosport Porsche is back onto the P2 lead lap and then into the lead. Still no Highcroft on track.

The Falken Tires Porsche is back on track after making repairs – Sellers in the car. The 01 Extreme Speed Ferrari is have a nice quiet race, currently setting in the 4th position. Yes, it is taking advantage of the misfortune of others, but they’ve managed to keep themselves out of any situation and staying clean.

Highcroft is now 5 laps back and counting. What looked to be a dominant lead evaporated very quickly. By the time Marino got back into the car, they were 6 laps back. Reportedly the problem was with the wiring – it was smoking quite badly. At this point there is still more than a normal race distance left. Things can still happen.

Marino back in – penalty.

Robertson Ford slow on track – sponsor opportunity, as it brings a Fresh From Florida banner along for part of a lap, after an off track excursion.
