Radio Le Mans Interviews – Thursday 21.45 – 24.00
Graham Tyler, Bob Constanduras and Joe Bradley

Andrea Piccini, #34 Aston Martin Racing

“We’ve been working on our race pace. With the rain we haven’t had time to put in qualifying laps. The first thing we wanted to be sure about is the tyres. Maybe we’ll try for a qualifying time now when the conditions are best.”

Wolf Henzler, #77 Team Felbermayer-Proton

“I tried hard. Pat Long is such a bad boy [for just taking the pole time from Wolf] but it’s OK. I’m happy with the lap time and looking forward to the race. It’s a hard competition today but it doesn’t matter where you start for the long race.”

What are you doing tonight? “A driver’s never pleased with the car – always looking for changes and improvements so that’s what we’re doing tonight.”

Antonio Garcia, #009 Aston Martin Racing

“The car is getting better especially for the race. Difficult to understand the new tyres but drove it as it was and got a fast lap. For me other drivers had done under 50s before this year but I only had a 53. I was mainly focussed on race pace but there’s more. I didn’t get 100% of car.”

Lucas Luhr, #3 Audi Sport Team Joest

“Something was wrong – it’s back to baseline again. Basically a lack of grip and floating – not following the road. Not nice.”

Alex Wurz, #8 Team Peugeot Total

“It’s going very well Working on race set-up that we couldn’t finish yesterday with the red flags. We’ve got good balance for the race. Another tweak and we’re ready. The circuit here’s changed. The cars are much faster. I still love it like I loved it 12 years ago. I won the race and every lap I was in the lead so hope to keep a 100% success rate.”

Martin Short, Owner/Team Manager #18 Rollcentre Racing

“We’ve just been working on race set-up. We haven’t put on qualifying tyres. We wanted to see what daytime race tyres would do and Joao set our fastest time. We’ve got four compounds to play with. Steph’s just gone out on night tyres. It would be nice to be in front of the LMP2s. The .tyre choice is all temperature related. Dunlop and the other guys have different tyres for different conditions. With too much camber you can get a hot-spot on the inside which causes a puncture and Dunlop’s very keen to make sure we don’t have that. It’s opur decision at the end of the day but as with all our partners we listen very seriously.”

Stephane Sarrazin, #8 Team Peugeot Total

“I hope we stay on pole. It was very good qualifying. Very fast car. Very stable. Car really good. I’m confident for the race. For the qualifying lap I pushed at the maximum and hoped it was fast enough. I did a good lap without mistakes so I’m very happy.”

Ron Fellowes, #63 Corvette Racing

“I’m pretty excited. We made some big gains with the chassis in the last hour. One more thing to change and then we’re good for the race. Everybody’s pretty pleased. We’re optimistic. It’s not over ‘til it’s over for the pole. You want the straight line speed but without losing grip but we’re pleased with the balance. We enjoy the competition with the Prodrive group. We have a lot of respect for them and we enjoy the battle.”

Jan Magnussen, #63 Corvette Racing

“A proud moment. We were working hard yesterday. This is my first pole – not sure about Corvette but if you say so I believe you. It’s fantastic being here with the [Danish] support and showing them that at the driver parade will be great.”

Allan McNish, #2 Audi

“Tonight was quite good. I’m very pleased. We focussed on the race and improved our lap time. We showed we’re capable of matching Peugeout at night so have confidence for the race. We’ve made the car easier and nicer to drive. It’s going to be a reasonable battle come Saturday. With the three cars we’ve got one basic rule – don’t crash into each other – but we can play our strategy games. That’s how we’ve run in the past and it’s not going to change now.”

Stuart Moseley, #32 Barazi Epsilon

“We were all really happy with the car yesterday so overnight we changed to the race components. We didn’t want to wear it out so we all did a few laps and left it at that. It’s very good. The car is easy and comfortable to drive at the pace we want to run in the race.”
