Sebring Hours 10 - 11
More of the Same; 01 Ferrari goes out in a Blaze

The 07 holds a 20 second lead over the Peugeot. Aston 3 laps back and the Drayson Lola is fighting a misfire. In P2, Cytosport has a 7 lap lead over Highcroft. GT2 still sees the Risi Ferrari in the lead by over a lap on the BMWs. PC – 55 over 99 by 18 laps. GTC – 81 over 23 by 2 laps with 69 another 4 back.

Cytosport pits with right at 2 hours and 45 minutes left. Graf out, Maassen in.

Minassian is clawing back at the lead – now down 16 seconds. Highcroft back into the pits. Marino out – Brabs in.

89 Intersport PC off track – full course yellow. Lots’o stops.

The 01 has a problem, having an extended stop in the pit on the yellow – brakes. This will likely cost them 4th in class, as the Lizards are right behind them.

IMSA admitted to messing up the caution earlier that kept the pits closed for so long. The initial problem started with the pace car picking up the wrong Peugeot and then went downhill from there. There will likely be more on this later.

Green with 2:22 to go. The 45 Lizards are through into 4th in class, which could prove valuable later on in the season points chase.

07 leads by less than a second over the 08. Fernandez in the Aston is 3 laps back. A Peugeot appears to have gotten into the side of the Drayson, shoving it off course in heavy traffic. Possible penalty? Well there was one for Drayson, as Pirro had to come back in for a wrist slap. The Peugeots seem content to be turning laps in the 1:50 range. Why not? There is nothing pressing them. Now the gap is around 6 seconds and the lap times are more towards the normal – 1:47s to 1:49s. Traffic.

Big fire in the 01. It erupted on the back straight. Scott Sharp got out OK and the corner workers reacted quickly to put out the fire. Caution number 5.

Both Peugeots in, as well as the leaders in GT2. When Scott bailed from his Ferrari, he was directing the workers for help in getting the fire out as soon as possible. Definitely the signals of a car owner, not a driver.

After the stops, the Peugeots are still in line, 07 ahead of 08. The BMWs are just ahead of the Risi Ferrari, but all three are behind the leaders, so none will get a wave by. This leaves the Risi with almost a 2 lap lead.

Green with 1:37 to go. At the line, it was 07 ahead of 08 by 2 seconds. The Aston in 3rd did get a lap back during the pit stops. Now the gap is just over 2 laps.

Since the contact from the Peugeot, the Drayson Lola has been troubled – over heating and such. It’s been in and out of the pits for some time now. The goal is to just keep it going to the end. They don’t really have the time to gain a spot.

GTC has ended up being an AJR showcase. At this point it is a 1-2-3 for the team, 81, 23, 80. Welcome back Alex and team.

The overall lead is really about the only real battle. The gap is around 2 seconds, give or take, depending on traffic.
