FIA GT - Silverstone GT90 Revival Race One Result A quick catch up with this side show, which took place immediately prior to the FIA GT qualifying session under a sunny blue sky. Those conditions made the TVR Tuscan look a very nice place to be, particularly on the first lap for Darren Dowling in the #64 example, challenging for third place overall alongside Terry Pudwell’s Stealth along Hangar Straight. Ahead of these two were the Lotus Elise GT1 and David Krayem’s Stealth. The GT3 TVR waned as the GT2 Porsches behind gathered pace and stormed through, first the Peter Fairbairn 993, then Peter Cook’s older/more glorious looking example. Cook then passed the 993, whilst meanwhile the Lotus, authentic to its original form, expired after six laps. Pudwell lost some ground and left Krayem to fend off Cook for the lead. These two traded places a number of times, the Stealth seeming to have huge amounts more pace down the start/finish straight, whilst the Porsche looked far stronger coming out of Stowe and into Maggots and Becketts. Krayem had difficulties getting going after the mandatory pitstop and Cook led to the finish, despite a stop go penalty for a pitlane infringement, winning comfortably from Krayem and Pudwell. It was nice to see cars like the F40, Harrier and Venturi back out there, but it was a shame that the promised McLarens and 911 GT1s did not take the start. Given the expiry of the Lotus, F40, F550 and Harrier during this race, it will probably be less of a show tomorrow.
