Le Mans Test Day - Saturday Afternoon Notes Oliver Gavin was smiling broadly after an entertaining run down to Le Mans yesterday courtesy of a ‘company loaner Corvette ZR1’ “It’s fabulous, so much power and torque for a road car, just a bit frustrating that the traffic was so awful yesterday.” To clarify the earlier comments about the similarity between the Larbre Porsche and the IMSA Performance version - That would be because the Larbre car IS an IMSA Performance car, a highly appropriate alliance bearing in mind the origins of the team! The four drivers due to run in the #88 Felbermayr Proton car make up and interesting squad – Perhaps most interesting of all is the inclusion of ‘Fourth Man’ Spencer Pumpelly – No confirmation as yet but don’t be too surprised to see Spencer aboard another Porsche for the race proper! There was time yesterday evening to catch up with the design team on the Lotus Evora – Lots more to come on that later this week – and news too of a way to get your name on a Lotus at Le Mans – for a quid! Whilst we had a short shower here yesterday afternoon it was as nothing compared to the evening downpour last night - around 5mm in 90 minutes, much of which seems to have been soaked up by the DSC Editor's clothing as our crew roamed Arnage in a vain search for an open bar! The forecast for Sunday is dry - with a possibility of of a shower in the afternoon. |
