Italian GT, Imola - Preview
Three Races This Weekend

The Italian GT Championship enters the second half of its season this weekend at the “Enzo e Dino Ferrari track of Imola”. The tropical summer finally gets going into the south of Europe and we expect some very hot races.

This time we’ll have three races, instead of the usual four. On Saturday the GT Cup/GT4 cars and the GT2/GT3 will have two separate races, while on Sunday all the cars will race together.

Some news about the entry list. Following the huge shunt in the GT Open at Spa last Sunday, for sure Rui Aguas won’t race, but doubts are coming also for his teammate Garofano. We’ll find out on Saturday if he will race or not. We can confirm in GT2, the 2009 Champion Autorlando Porsche RSR has been withdrawn from the series. We found out at Monza last weekend during a Porsche race with Paolo Ruberti that he and Del Monte won’t race until the last round at Monza in October.

In GT3 the Le Mans winner, the “man from Venus”, Richard Lietz, will be back with Roda in the R version of the Stuttgart Autorlando Porsche, and also Dindo Capello will be back partnering Gianluca Giraud in the Audi R8. A second car from GDL Racing will also enter this time, another 2010 Porsche 997 R for Piodi-Paletto.

In the GT Cup class we won’t find Benusiglio-Amaduzzi in the La Na 430, but another new entry (a fast one) for the lower class field is the ex-GT2 man Del Monte partnering with Mastronardi in a 997 for the GDL Racing.

Full report from the qualifying on Saturday and report of the first races on Sunday.
