Warm And Sunny In Corby....Huh?

There may only be 13 cars for this weekend's meeting in Northamptonshire, but even so the ingredients are there for some great racing and it is again going to be very difficult to select a winner in either class.

A remarkable nine different cars are represented within the small number - Viper, Ferrari 430, Ferrari Scuderia, Ford GT, Ascari, Aston Martin, Mosler, Ginetta G50 and Ginetta G50Z - and the unique characteristics of the 'roval' should make for an interesting weekend.

There are only a couple of driver changes to note. With Stuart Hall focussing on his Le Mans drive with Aston Martin, Gregor Fisken pairs up with Dan Brown in the sole Rollcentre MT900, while Joe Osborne - so impressive in the GT4 European Cup this year - tries out the Barwell G50Z alongside Ollie Bryant.

One thing is assured for this weekend's meeting, and that is fine weather. The 2008 meeting at this venue saw cold biting winds and general grimness; but this year sun and temperatures in the mid 20s will be served up. This is already having an affect on the tyres, with Allan Simonsen reporting that times are a couple of seconds off last year's pace due to the temperatures as teams look for a set-up.

Unusually, teams only had two sessions i which to test on the Friday, with the Chad Ferrari losing a lot of time with a failed oil union in the first session and an activating fire-extinguisher in the second.

The MTECH Ferrari Scuderia was present, but not moving, on Friday, after a problem with the gearbox on the new car. The replacment part had been sourced and the team was hopeful of having the repair made by Saturday. In the meantime, Matt Griffin logged some time in the team's 430 - the car in which Mike Edmonds and Duncan Cameron took their first Britcar GT win at the circuit, earlier in the month.

Adam Wilcox claimed the fastest time of the day in the VRS Equipment Finance Ferrari in GT3, while Team WFR was fastest in GT4.

The timetable is back to normal for this meeting, with qualifying and race one taking place this afternoon, and race two early on Sunday afternoon.
