Brno To Join Le Mans Series Calendar In 2012?
Despite the fact that we are still waiting for confirmation of the final details of the 2012 Le Mans Series calendar it seems that one of the rounds replacing the Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone events will take place in the Czech Republic.
The Brno Circuit website (www.automotodrombrno.cz) has put the Le Mans Series on its calendar for the 2012 season. The Brno race is set to take place on September 7-9, 2012, taking the Autumn date left open by Silverstone.
In 2011 the Brno Circuit did not have any international sportscar or GT, but the FIA GT championships raced at the Czech circuit between 2000 and 2010. The last time an international sportscar racing series raced at Brno was back in May of 2002 when Val Hillebrand and Jan Lammers won round 3 of the FIA Sportscar Championship in their Racing for Holland Dome S101 Judd. Ten years later it looks like sportscar racing is set to return to the Masaryk Circuit.
With the announcement of the FIA World Endurance Championship calendar earlier today DSC expects the Le Mans Series calendar to be announced soon.
