FIA WEC, 6 Hours of Shanghai - Race Hours 5 and 6

Two hours remaining in the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship. Toyota is dominating here in China and the Audi's are unable to do anything. As things are after four hours the Le Mans 24 Hours winners Fassler, Lotterer and Treluyer will also become World Champions.

15:06 - Darren Turner says AMR lost 10 seconds thanks to Toyota. The Aston currently 22 seconds behind the Felbermayr-Porsche, but it has already made a stop.

15:11 - Lapierre doesn't hold back and is already 22 seconds clear of McNish. Lotterer is now 40 seconds behind his teammate. The Toyota driver now flashing his lights trying to lap Peter Dumbreck once more.

15:13 - Mucke takes almost two seconds out of Lieb's lead...and quicker on the next lap. Dumbreck pits from fifth overall, already 1,5 minutes behind Jani.

15:15 - Lapierre lost a couple of seconds when lapping traffic - McNish now 20 seconds behind and Lotterer 1 minute. JRM replacing the rear wing on their HPD. Cong Fu Cheng takes over fifth place as a result.

15:16 - TV director decides track action is not interesting enough....and focuses on two Audi girls walking in the (empty) paddock.

15:18 - 18.9 seconds between Mucke and Lieb now. Aston catching Porsche.

15:19 - Fastest lap of the race for Nicolas Lapierre - 1:48.815!

15:22 - Pit stop for Lotterer - fuel and tyres for the Audi R18 e-tron quattro #1.

15:23 - As Lotterer rejoins the track - McNish comes in for his stop, he will hand over his Audi R18 to Tom Kristensen.

15:27 - Lotterer improves the fastest time set by the #1 Audi. A 1:49.409 for the German. Richard Lietz pits in GTE Pro - lead back to Aston Martin Racing.

15:32 - Kristensen now also improving the fastest time set by the #2 Audi. Still only matching the current laptime by Lapierre.

15:37 - Olivier Pla pits - drops behind Sarrazin and Minassian.

15:39 - Lapierre pits the Toyota for the sixth time. Full service and driver change to Alex Wurz.

15:41 - Wurz rejoins still leading the race. Nelson Panciatici spins the #26 Signatech-Nissan Oreca around...and returns to the pit.

15:42 - 30 seconds between Wurz and Kristensen after that pitstop.

15:44 - And again there is a piece of astroturf in the middle of the circuit.

15:45 - Andrea Belicchi 2.5 seconds quicker than David Brabham on the last lap - just nine seconds between the two cars now in the fight for second in LMP1 Privateer class.

15:48 - Paul Daniels confirms rear hub problems on the JWA-Avila Porsche. Hopes to have it fixed within the next 15 minutes.

15:55 - More astroturf getting onto the track. Patches of the green stuff loose on exit of last corner. Kristensen fastest of all in sector 3.

15:59 - Into the final hour of the season!

16:02 - Nic Minassian has caught a large part of the astroturf with the right front of his Pecom Racing Oreca-Nissan.

16:04 - Sarrazin lapping quicker than John Martin - gap in LMP2 down to just 35 seconds with an hour remaining. GTE Pro leader Stefan Mucke pits - Darren Turner to take over and finish the race.

16:06 - Turner rejoins behind Lietz. The gap between the Austrian and the Brit is 5.411 seconds. David Brabham pits the JRM car and that means Rebellion Racing is now fourth and fifth again as Belicchi passes Brabham.

16:09 - Audi pit crews preparing for another stop.

16:11 - 3.827 seconds between Lietz and Turner now - but the Porsche will still have to come in for a full service. In LMP2 Sarrazin is now 37 seconds behind Martin - as he pits the Starworks Motorsport #44.

16:14 - John Martin pits as well now - ADR-Delta could do without a pit drama now. Brabham back to fifth place as Belicchi pitted.

16:15 - Andre Lotterer is in for the sixth pit stop of the #1 Audi. In LMP2 Olivier Pla has moved into the lead as Martin pitted.

16:16 - Tom Kristensen now also in for the #2's sixth stop.

16:17 - Sarrazin quicker than before in the #44 Starworks Motorsport HPD - still 32 seconds behind John Martin, who is now 1.899s behind Pla.

16:20 - Bit earlier than expected stop for the #7 Toyota - quick refuel and gone again is Wurz.

16:22 - Andre Lotterer quicker than before, 1:48.924. Only a tenth off the time set by Lapierre and fastest in sector 3.

16:25 - Kristensen runs over the astroturf at the last corner - taking a large chunk from it.

16:27 - Pla pits, Martin takes the lead in LMP2 again. AF Corse Ferrari #51 wheeled back into the box again.

16:28 - Darren Turner passes Richard Lietz and takes the lead in GTE Pro again - the Porsche still has to make its final stop.

16:32 - Andrea Belicchi vs David Brabham - great fight - Belicchi gets ahead of Brabham, Rebellion Racing first and second in class again. Fourth and fifth overall.

16:38 - Paul Daniels has spun the JWA-Avila Porsche - but has rejoined again.

16:44 - Just over 15 minutes remaining - Toyota still over a minute ahead of the first of the two Audi's.

16:48 - 11 minutes and counting - the sun is setting, but still a clear view.

16:49 - Little moment for Rui Aguas who had to release the throttle not to hit the Toyota. All clear though.

16:51 - Drama for Rebellion Racing - Nicolas Prost just passed the pit entry and the Lola-Toyota stalls!!! Yellow flags.

16:54 - Yellow flags at turns 14, 15 and 16 - marshals on track to push it to a safe position.

16:56 - Crane on track to remove the Rebellion Lola - but Nicolas Prost doesn't seem to agree as the lights on the #12 switch on again.

16:58 - Message from Race Control: Driver  car 12 reported to stewards for refusing marshal assistance

16:59 - Prost gives up and walks away from the car - moments after being reported to stewards.

17:00 - Last lap

17:01 - Alexander Wurz crosses the line to win the 6 Hours of Shanghai for Toyota Racing! Kristensen finishes second at almost a minute, Lotterer comes home in third - and secures the World Championship for himself, Treluyer and Fassler.

John Martin takes another LMP2 class win for ADR-Delta. Starworks Motorsport second and OAK Racing is third.

Aston Martin Racing wins in GTE Pro - over 50 seconds ahead of Team Felbermay-Proton and AF Corse.

Larbre Competition #50 takes the GTE Am class win and the FIA Endurance Trophy For LM GTE Am Teams. Felbermayr-Proton finishes second and Krohn Racing takes third. Race results equal to point standings.

17:05 - "It is probably the best one we had this season. Very smooth and very satisfied," says Toyota's Pascal Vasselon.
