JMW Choose Ferrari 458 For 2011 JMW Motorsport will return to the Le Mans Series in 2011, keen to reclaim the title they won in years past but with a new car in the team's garage. The team's 2010 Aston Vantage GT2 is up for sale and a new Ferrari 458 GT2 is expected for delivery before the Le Mans Series pre season test in mid March. The team's Dunlop deal continues so lovers of Ferrari's in something other than red won't be disappointed and, it seems, that Rob Bell is set to return to the team once again too with a second driver to be named in the coming weeks. Team Manager Tim Sugden was keen to stress that the team had enjoyed a very constructive working relationship with Aston Martin Racing and that they had enjoyed running the Vantage in 2010. "I was very proud indeed of the way that the whole team, from Jim (McWhirter), through Dock (Steve) Bunkhall and the drivers rose to the challenge of running with the new car last year." "We were delighted to get the pole at Silverstone and to run at the front of the pack for much of the race too. The change to the Ferrari in not really linked to the Aston, it's for a variety of reasons, some of them commercial." Either way JMW will be happy to run a Ferrari again, McWhirter had much success with his 430 GT2 with LMS GT2 titles in both 2007 and 2008. JMW have also posted an entry for the Le Mans 24 Hours with Sugden admitting that "Of course I'd love to drive at Le Mans again." Will he get the chance? We'll see. |
