Nürburgring Preview - GT1 Fantastic Four Its Corvette vs Aston Martin vs Lamborghini again and with the Strakka Racing Aston sitting this one out (but back for Silverstone) the GT1 grid is back down to just four. That’s not to say we won’t get a race in this class; the four all being capable of taking the win. First up is the two car Luc Alphand Aventures team, with the #72 squad currently leading the points battle; or at least Moreau and Goueslard do, Luc Alphand himself having missed a round this year. The #73 squad, meanwhile, sees Olivier Beretta join Policand and Blanchemain. The C6.R pair will take some beating. Step up the #59 Team Modena DBR9 pairing of Enge and Garcia, a quality car with a very high quality driving squad. If it stays out of trouble, on track and off, then it will take the fight to the Vettes. But it’s not the Aston which is second in the points battle, it’s the Lamborghini; Roman Rusinov and Peter Kox in the catchily monikered Inter Progress Bank Spartak Racing Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT. The all-white Murcielago has been showing most un-Lambo-like reliability and speed all season and last time out in the LMS would have been in with a real shot of class victory, had it not been the victim of somebody else’s accident.
