Qualifying

Qualifying saw somewhat opposite outcomes in results in the separate classes. In Prototypes, it was a late effort by Simon Pagenaud to take overall pole, while it was Bruni/Risi almost from the beginning in GT.

LMPC was a continuing run for Gunnar Jeannette, setting quick times throughout the session. GTC saw Bryce Miller early on in his Grand Am spec car, only to be beat by Jeroen Bleekemolen late in the session.

Pagenaud saved the best for last and made his serious push in the Highcroft HPD ARX-01 with about 8 minutes remaining in the 20-minute session. Up to that point, qualifying had been quite competitive in the Prototype class with Jon Field (Intersport Lola) Klaus Graf (Muscle Milk Porsche), Jonny Cocker (Drayson Lola) and Chris Dyson (Dyson Lola) all having time at the top of the charts in the 20-minute session. Cocker, Dyson and Graf all qualified (2-4) within .039 seconds of each other.

While GT ended up a Ferrari 1-2-3, the class was as usual, very competitive. The top 7 cars in class were all within .35 seconds of each other.

The expected challenge in GTC from Butch Leitzinger and the AJR team was slowed by a broken shock, which was discovered in the afternoon session, just before qualifying. Because there was no time to make a repair, the handling suffered and the car will start 9th in class.
