Techinal issues (likely created by myself) may well have wiped out the middle stages of the race coverage. My appologies.
The reason for Autocon starting from the pit lane was a throw out bearing went bad, which the team discovered on the reconissance laps. Mike Lewis was quite proud of the team for cracking the case and making the repair in 45 minutes in order to take the start. As far as what slowed it - it was not exactly the alternator. It appears as if something internal on the alternator drive slipped that could not be repaired during the race.
Drayson was put out by something in the gearbox/drive. Further analysis will be necessary to exactly know what happened. How does this affect their preperation for Le Mans? Time is very short to determine the cause and to make the proper fix. One thing the team could take away is that Jonny Cocker was right there with his lap times, which made the car the 3rd quickest in the race, trailing only the Highcroft and the 1:14s that Guy Smith was turning late.
The Jaguar made it to the end. That is a positive result for the team. In general, the car was reliable. It was hung up by an alternator issue during the race, but the team did take the finish. The speed is still lacking, but the progress the team has made since Sebring is a step in the right direction. Now that the reliability is getting there, the team can work on the pace of the car.
