Warren Hughes Joins RLR MSport The current entry list for the Silverstone 1000kms has the interesting addition of Warren Hughes to the RLR Msport MG Lola driver line up. Hughes steps in as Simon Phillips steps back to his carbon chassied Norma for VdeV/ Speed Euroseries action. The addition of Hughes to the line-up will surely add some more fire in the belly of the now MG factory-backed effort on ‘home’ ground. DSC believe that Warren will complete the season with the team too at Estoril, with no word yet as to whether the team might add the Zhuhai ILMC round to their 2011 schedule. Warren Hughes has a racing history with the MG brand that extends back for over a decade, a Championship win in the one make MGF Trophy in 1999 coming ahead of a three year stint (2001-3) as a factory MG driver both in Touring Cars and at the Le Mans 24 Hours in the MG Lola EX257. When the factory team folded Hughes moved on, initially finding a home once again aboard and MG Lola, this time the EX264 of RML, and helping Mike Newton and Thomas Erdos to the LMP2 title in 2005. Hughes has raced the ex RML RLR Msport EX265 before of course, helping the team to find their feet in 2010 at their LMS racing debut in Hungary. |
