Scrutineering Conversations - Part 7 Spyker Speakers
Jarek Janis
“It’s great to be back with the team and I am very, very happy to be back with them here.
“After free practice at Barcelona when I hit a kerb hard and aggravated the back injury I decided to stop – I needed to have a break, to stabilize the back. The team were very good about it and understood.
“I did one race to prepare and check myself out in a Lamborghini (the new Supertrofeo Series).
“It was the first time I had ever raced against my brother (Erik Janis) and we had a good fight in a race that had some very good drivers including Peter Kox and Uwe Alzen.
“I finished 3rd, 4th and 3rd in the triple header, Eric 2nd, 9th and 2nd – I think that makes me the winner!”

“It’s great to be back at Le Mans and with a Dutch team too – the Spyker seems stronger than ever.
“For such a small company simply having the car here is a fine effort, but if we and the team can have no problems then there is no reason why we should not be fighting for a podium.
“Unpredictable weather could be good for us; we have three good drivers in the car and we can take advantage when some of the other GT2s have their slower drivers on board.”

“I tried very hard at the end of last year to be a Porsche factory driver, but it was a very difficult time for that Programme. They had to cut back and of course they found no place for Richard (Westbrook).
“I would still like to show them what I can do, though – I’m currently 24 points clear in the Porsche Supercup.”
