ALMS, Long Beach Grand Prix Follow Up ... Well Sort Of - A Good Story at Least Every once in a while, something comes about that makes you smile, or maybe even drop a few tears of joy. This is one of those things. It all started with a phone call from my wife, insisting that I pretty my drop everything and go see an arcade that was made by a 8 year old boy, out of all things, cardboard boxes. That was easier said than done – it was Thursday night, it was dark and traveling into an unknown section of East LA was probably not the best thing to be doing at that time. Short of going there – I watched the video instead. You can too at www.cainesarcade.com . Wow. Martin and I had the opportunity go visit the arcade on Sunday. Unfortunately the arcade wasn't open for action (Caine was a bit tired from 500 customers on Saturday) but it did end the trip on a good note. |
Long story short. A boy is bored from staying the summer at his Dad’s auto parts shop. He wants to go to a arcade. Dad says no – build one yourself. And that is what the boy does it - out of cardboard boxes, left over from his Dad’s business. Looking back on my childhood, I could easily see myself having done the same thing, probably just not to this scale. Sadly, the boy never had a customer to his arcade for quite some time, at least until someone took the time to actually see what was there and what the boy actually did. Fate had it that this customer, customer #1 was a film maker. The rest is internet history. Do yourself a favor and watch the video, and while you do so, think back to the simpler times of your childhood. |
