ILMC/ ALMS – 12 Hours Of Sebring - LMPC Qualifying

The final 15 minutes of the Qualifying hour saw the sextet of Oreca LMPC cars take to the track, the #018 Performance Tech .

It turned, for much of the session, into a battle for supremacy between the #036 Genoa racing car of Dane Cameron and the #005 Core Autosport car of Ryan Dalziel, the pair trading fastest times for lap after lap it seemed.

No sooner would Dalziel carve a lap that drew closer to Cameron than the Genoa man would eke out a further advantage.

It ended with Cameron on class pole, a 1:55.232 with Dalziel just a couple of tenths behind, an excellent effort by both men, the LMPC pole time less than 1.5 seconds shy of the LMP2 mark, 12th fastest overall.

Gunnar Jeannette took some time to get up to full speed in the #006 car but couldn’t get onto terms with the flying pair ahead, Ryan Lewis tried hard to get onto terms with Jeannette but his efforts left him 4th fastest and in the wall at Turn 17 at the very end of the session.

All four of the fastest LMPCs finished the session ahead of the second fastest LMP2 car, this the #55 Level 5 Lola HPD!  Scott Tucker then watched both of his 2010 FLM cars outqualify his brand new cost capped LMP2 – If that isn’t a signal to the ACO that some changes are badly needed in performance balancing both in LMP2 and between the classes then it’s difficult to know what is!
