Longin And Ruffier For SRT
Full FIA GT Season

Selleslagh Racing Team has announced that it will be taking part in the full FIA GT Championship season, with Bert Longin being joined by James Ruffier in the team's Corvette C6.R.

“The choice of Bert Longin and James Ruffier for the FIA GT-championship developed over the last few weeks”, said Patrick Selleslagh. “And I’m truly pleased that we were able to conclude an agreement. Both drivers have tremendous experience and I’m convinced that they will be highly compatible and produce some first-class results. One of the things I truly value in both these drivers is their professionalism and passion, both on and off the track. I’m going to try to end the season in all serenity as high as possible in the championship; in addition 2009 is a symbolic championship because it will be the very last one with the present generation of GT1s. The era will come to an end in Zolder at the end of October, the same circuit where we took our first steps with a Corvette C5-R GT1 back in 2003. This year we can once again count on strong partners, with in the first instance Michelin and CPL Trans and they deserve to finish up front.”

Ruffier is the reigning FIA GT3 champion (in a Corvette) and boasts an impressive record of achievements with, amongst others, titles in FIA GT3, the French FFSA GT and the French Porsche Carrera Cup. The Belgian Bert Longin is a multi Belgian GT champion (Belcar), won the 24 Hours of Zolder on several occasions and has also clocked up four victories in FIA GT.

SRT is also fielding a C6.R in the FFSA GT Championship, where Wilfried Merafina and Jean-Philippe Dayraut will be on duty.

Wilfried Merafina is a gentleman driver through and through, and has previously competed in various races for SRT. “Together we have claimed a few podium places and back in 2007 together with Yvan Lebon he competed in an FIA GT race in Nogaro with us," continued the team boss. "Jean-Philippe Dayraut has a pretty extensive record of achievements with countless wins in the French Trophée Andros, the renowned ice race championship. On top of that he won races in the FFSA GT – with a Corvette no less - , the Europcup Mégane and clinched the title of vice-champion in the French touring car championship.”

The French FFSA GT Championship kicked off on 11th and 12th April in Nogaro - with a podium place for SRT - while the first race for the FIA GT Championship takes place on May 3rd at Silverstone.
