ILMC/ ALMS, Twelve Hours Of Sebring - Raceday! It's OMG O'clock here at Sebring as the sun comes up ahead of this morning's start of the 59th 12 Hours of Sebring. We're expecting all 56 cars to make the starting grid (the Lamborghini's long awaited wheel spindle had arrived by last night and the car passed tech we believe) with the weather forecast to be in the mid 80s. The mood in the press room is one of coffee and sugar fuelled enthusiasm, soon to be overtaken by a realisation that there are too many tasks to complete before warm-up begins in - 34 minutes. Gary Horrocks is lightening the load by playing a video of an Oriental man playing Bohemian Rhapsody on the ukulele - And doing it spectacularly well (playing the ukulele that is, not playing the video!) The smart money appears to be on Peugeot run from the front and a race likely liberally interspersed with a car with flashing lights leading the field, 56 cars on this track ranging from the diesel powered guided missiles to the GTC Porsches is a recipe for unpredictability. Ladies and Gentlemen it's Raceday! |
