With 55 cars on the grid, and the Panoz starting from pit lane after a brief issue with the refuelling rig, we're about ready to go.

A sizeable chunk of the crowd is on the grid and being remarkably well behaved around the racecars - Look and learn F1!

There was a report that the Larbre Corvette had some overheating issues during warm-up but there seem no dramas at all chez Larbre on the grid.

The Gulf Team AMR has a suspected flywheel problem.

Scott Tucker confirmed the blindingly obvious - "It's obvious to everyone that the LMP2/ LMPC balance is way off.  I'd expect that they'll respond after this race, they certainly need to."

One major pre-race theme is the likelihood of yellow flags in large numbers - How many? 5? 10? 15?  Let's hope not!

Rebellion Racing have joined Highcroft, Oreca and Falken in trying to point good wishes and donations in the direction of the Japanese earthquake recovery effort.  The #12 Lola carries a prominent vinyl promoting the Japanese Red Cross appeal and Bart Hayden put it perfectly yesterday:

"We're all thinking about the terrible scenes we saw throughout last week and, of course with our Toyota colleague's minds on home and families we're particularly aware of the human aspects of the situation."
