Dunlop Dubai 24 Hours – By The Numbers What a finish – and what a race the 7th Dunlop Dubai 24 Hours gave us: It was a 1,2,3 for the AMG Mercedes SLS GT3, the first 24 hour race victory for the car and the first win for Mercedes here (of course!) Mercedes Benz joins Porsche and BMW on the winning marques roll of honour. It’s a first overall 24 Hour race win for the Abu Dhabi Black Falcon team. First Dubai 24 Hour wins too for all four drivers – Sean Edwards, Thomas Jäger, Jeroen Bleekemolen and Khaled Al-Qubaisi Two cars on the overall podium for Heico Motorsport and two cars in podium positions too from Black Falcon – Overall (and A6) winners and second in SP3. Optimum Motorsport win their first 24 Hour class title with the Ginetta G50. Another international title for Joe Osborne. A great show from Nissan here with a massive effort to draw attention to the event with their increasingly successful GT Academy project – a class podium was a fantastic reward for their efforts. Class wins too for Las Moras Racing Team (SP2), Carworld Motorsport (997), Besaplast racing team (A2) and Le Duigou Racing (A5). Oh, and Dunlop swept the podium – in every class!! |
