It was very tough act to follow, but Sunday’s race at Croft was every bit as dramatic as the previous day’s. As expected, Allan Simonsen pulled out an early lead, but that was negated by a safety car. What nobody expected was that Hector Lester would not only maintain but extend the lead, and he drove superbly to claim a second win of the weekend for the CiM Ferrari.
Guy Harrington was another to put in a stunning drive, as he pulled the #3 Barwell Aston up from 13th at the pitstop to finish second, in the process taking the lead in the championship, with Ben de Zille Butler. Meanwhile, Bradley Ellis and Alex Mortimer’s own title hopes were dealt a severe blow when they were shunted out of the race from fourth.
In GTC, Graeme Mundy and Jamie Smyth all but secured the title by taking a narrow win from the Beechdean Ferrari, with a little help from Trackspeed.
