Le Mans 24 Hours – Thursday Notes From The Paddock 3

Strakka Racing believe that they can go under the 3:30 mark in qualifying this evening after Danny Watts banged in a 3:31 “It really will all be about traffic though,“ said Team Manager Piers Phillips

Team RLR Msport, the squad supporting Greg Murphy’s Oreca 03 effort here are set to get a new home after confirmation today of a brand new Technical centre at the heart of their local university in Bolton, a town famously twinned with Le Mans of course.

The team will move to the new base and will co-operate with the college on motorsport and other advanced engineering courses.

Vitantonio Liuzzi was chatting with friends at the Lotus LMP2 hospitality but paused to confirm that he expected to be racing in the WEC after Le Mans for the team – We believe from sources elsewhere that the recently ex F1 man will share the second team car with Kevin Weeda and James Rossiter.

Hiroshi Fushida reports that "We are currrently struggling to get significant heat in to our tyres so the additional aero we putting on to improve this is hurting us on top speed. The classic vicious circle!"

A DSC source reports that the Audi's are putting some significant ballast (metal and lead) in the rear diffusor of their cars.

Jonny Kane is still suffering from a return of the leg pain that he endured at Sebring. He saw the Audi doctor last night for a consultation.
