Hour 5

McNish led during the last yellow, but managed to spin behind the safety car. It dropped the No. 2 Audi to third spot. It's getting darker and darker. There are reports of rain up at the top. The immediate problem, as reported by now GT2 leader Mika Salo is the spray behind the safety car.

The track goes green but within minutes the deluge begins. McNish and Salo called it best and ducked in for monsoons just in time. Amazingly, the Peugeots remained out-somehow they made it back around with only a couple of slight offs.

Effectively the entire field came in for tires. The "race" continued but then Marco Werner aquaplaned off, followed by Rob Bell. Both of those P1 cars continued but the course went back under yellow. The rain got heavier. What were once turns were now creeks and rivers. Johnny O'Connell went off at Turn 12-under yellow-slowly.

Getting worse and worse-and for the first time in ALMS history, a race has been red-flagged.
