ALMS, Mosport – Quick Race Report
Another Great Race

What a race.  This one can’t really be summed up in a short amount of time.  In fact there are some questions concerning the official finishing positions.

This much we do know.  The overall winner was Marco Werner/Lucas Luhr in a come from behind win in the #2 Audi, while David Brabham had an amazing drive late in the race to bring the Highcroft Acura, which he shared with Scott Sharp, to second overall and first in P2.  The Highcroft team made a huge dent in the points, due to the #7 Penske (Dumas/Bernhard) running out of fuel on the last lap, as did the #66 Acura (de Ferran/Pagenaud) which was leading overall until late.

The #3 Corvette won GT1 again, while Risi (Melo/Salo) broke through for the win in GT2, after a long battle chasing down the Farnbacher Loles Porsche.  Third in GT2 may not be settled, as on track it was the #71 Tafel Ferrari finishing ahead on the track, over the #45 Lizard Porsche, but an inquiry into contact on the track between the two has been initiated at the request of the Lizards.

Update: The positions of #45 and 71 were swapped after the race.  #45 was given third and 71 fourth, despite finishing the other way around.  The Lizards had sent in an earlier protest because of contact which nothing came of; but later, both drivers were given warnings for excessive contact.  Because of those warnings, Tafel was penalized 30 seconds for contact on the track, even though Dirk tried to avoid all contact.  Tony Dowe protested but the officials deemed it a non- or un-protestable matter.  The results will show #45 third and 71 fourth.

Highcroft is now only 10 points behind the #7 Penske Porsche.

Full report will follow when I come down from this one.  Wow.  It doesn’t get much better that this.
